Makassar (ANTARA) - The Makassar Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), South Sulawesi, has recorded an increase in the number of flood refugees in two sub-districts, totaling 878 people.

The Head of the Makassar City BPBD, Fadli Tahar, in Makassar, Thursday, deployed a team to help refugees in the two sub-districts.

“Based on the rapid assessment by the BPBD Makassar City TRC Team, the number of refugees is spread across two sub-districts and four villages with a total of 15 evacuation points,” he said.

Fadli Tahar said that in total, 239 families or 878 people are still in evacuation locations.

At the Paccerakkang Elementary School, Katimbang Village, 64 families with 236 people were recorded. Meanwhile, in Paccerakkang Village, refugees are in the Lailatul Qadar Mosque with 5 families or 21 people, in one of the residents’ houses with 4 families or 11 people, and in a boarding house in front of SMA 18 with 3 families or 13 people.

“We have deployed a team to help the refugees and reported the developments to the mayor. We are also coordinating with other departments in helping the refugees,” he said.

In addition, in the Nurul Hikmah Bukka Mata Mosque, there are 7 families or 27 people, in the Paccerakkang Village Office, 3 families or 6 people, in the Ar Ra’mun Mosque, 15 families or 54 people, in the Nurul Ikhlas Kodam III Mosque, 30 families or 87 people, and in the Al Ummah Mosque, 8 families or 38 people.

In the Jabal Nur Mosque, there are 29 families or 89 people, the Anyelir Posyandu accommodates 2 families or 14 people, the Yuda Al Fatih Mosque has 12 families or 56 people, and the Al Mukarramah Mosque has 17 families or 62 people.

In Batua Village, specifically in the Al Kautsar Mosque, 17 families or 80 people are still taking refuge.

Fadli Tahar emphasized that his party continues to monitor and collect data periodically to ensure that the basic needs of the refugees can be met, as well as coordinate further handling steps with relevant agencies.
