REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG – The Chairman of the Student Council (Dema) of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Humaniora (Fuhum) at UIN Walisongo, Semarang, Nur Yusril, has urged the university to investigate the case of alleged sexual harassment committed by a lecturer against female students on campus. The suspected perpetrator and the victims are said to be from the Fuhum environment at UIN Walisongo.

“We strongly condemn all forms of sexual violence in the campus environment, especially in our faculty, without exception, no matter who the perpetrator is,” said Yusril in an interview on Friday (8/5/2026).

He added that Dema Fuhum has met with the Centre for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA) and the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) at UIN Walisongo to discuss the case of alleged sexual harassment by a certain lecturer. Yusril revealed that based on Dema Fuhum’s observations, there is one female student in their faculty who has become a victim of sexual harassment by the related lecturer.

“Yesterday when we met with the PPKS Task Force, from the university’s dema, it turned out there were three alleged victims,” said Yusril, adding that so far the number of suspected victims has reached four female students.

Nevertheless, Yusril added that so far Dema Fuhum has not received any official complaints from the female students who became victims of sexual harassment. “We hope the victims have the courage to report this case so it can be followed up and investigated more intensively,” he said.

He emphasised that Dema Fuhum will fully side with and support the victims of harassment. “We are also committed to monitoring this case,” he said.

According to Yusril, the suspected perpetrator of the harassment is indeed a lecturer from Fuhum UIN Walisongo. “As we stated on social media, the perpetrator has admitted that what is circulating on social media indeed matches his characteristics and the narratives point to him, and he admitted that he is indeed the perpetrator. That was the perpetrator’s admission around December (2025)-January (2026),” he stated.

“Why do I say around December and January? Because at that time the perpetrator admitted it in front of the Dean,” added Yusril.

He urged UIN Walisongo to investigate the case of alleged sexual harassment suspected to have been committed by a Fuhum lecturer. “We urge all parties to handle this case transparently, fairly, and certainly responsibly. We also reject protection for the perpetrator and the silencing of the victims,” he said.
