Nuclear Lies: Israel Reveals Why Trump and Netanyahu Attacked Iran

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - A member of the Israeli parliament has spoken out about Iran’s nuclear threat. This had previously formed the basis for why the United States (US) and Israel have attacked Iran since February 28.

In an interview with RT, Ofer Cassif, said security is not the driver of war. Rather, ‘political calculation.’

It should be noted that Ofer Cassif is the only Jewish member of the Hadash party, which is majority Arab. He has emerged as one of the few parliamentarians who openly opposed the war.

He gave a highly critical assessment of the motives, timing and potential direction of the war. ‘The real reason behind the aggression is the political and economic interests of the Israeli government and the United States administration, the Trump administration,’ he was quoted as saying on Friday (6/3/2025).

He linked this to statements by Prime Minister Netanyahu in June after the first strike on Iran, which was also aided by the US. Netanyahu, he said, spoke that ‘We have achieved a historic victory… eliminating Iran’s nuclear project and its ballistic missile industry’.

‘This has nothing to do with threats, as I just mentioned,’ he claimed that he has no sympathy for the Iranian regime and even opposes it.

‘This is entirely related to economic and political interests, including Netanyahu’s personal interests, who wants to declare early elections and present himself as Israel’s saviour to the Iranian people and the entire region,’ he said.

According to him, Netanyahu fears going to prison, alluding to several legal scandals of the prime minister in Israel and his family.

‘He fears prison. He knows that once he loses political power, he might soon be behind bars because of ongoing trials against him,’ he added.

‘That is the real reason behind his rhetoric. He is not saving the world from radical Islam. Moreover, I do not believe radical Islam is the main problem the world faces today. Of course, fanatic Islam is a problem, as is other forms of fanaticism. But I do not think it is worse than evangelical fanatics in the United States or what is called Zionist religious fanaticism in Israel,’ he clarified.

As for Trump, he also touched on the president’s desire to delay the midterm elections in the US that were due in October. Because the electoral campaign could be extended to June 2026.

‘The timing of the aggression serves Netanyahu and Trump, particularly their personal interests,’ he said.

‘As I said, there’s a midterm election in the United States, and the election here was supposed to be held in October but may be postponed to June. Unfortunately, both leaders and the administrations around them believe that such aggression would benefit them electorally,’ he asserted.

Who Can Stop the War

He also said the most likely to stop the war are the American people themselves. If the American public, according to polls, oppose the war, take to the streets, the war could end.

‘Especially if within the Republican base there are clear indications of opposition to the aggression. Trump, especially approaching the midterms, might stop the war for his own interests. Just like Netanyahu, he also only cares about himself,’ he insisted.

‘The key is in the hands of the American public. If they take to the streets or press enough on Trump and his administration, I think this aggression could be halted,’ he added.
