NU Congress Scheduled for August, Small Committee and Panel Team Begin Formation
The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) is refining preparations for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress, scheduled to take place in August 2026.
“Preparations for the 35th NU Congress continue to progress and are now entering the maturation stage,” said PBNU General Secretary Saifullah Yusuf, commonly known as Gus Ipul, in Bandarlampung on Sunday (26/4).
Gus Ipul stated that in the lead-up to the NU Congress, a small committee has already been formed and is finalising various technical needs for the event.
“Preparations are ongoing. The small committee has been established and is completing the necessary committee structure for the Congress,” said Gus Ipul, who is also the Chairman of the 35th NU Congress Organising Committee.
He explained that one of the main focuses is resolving management administration, particularly the issuance of Decrees (SK) for regional and branch officials who will be Congress participants.
To expedite this process, PBNU has formed a panel team chaired by Muhammad Nuh.
“The panel team is tasked with verifying and finalising the SKs so that all participants have valid legal status before the Congress takes place,” he said.
Gus Ipul added that the team is working to complete all SKs and urged regional and branch officials to complete their administration and other technical preparations.
Meanwhile, PBNU Chairman for Education and Law, Moh Mukri, said the panel team is also conducting verification and review of the organisation’s internal dynamics.
“This includes aligning previous decisions to ensure all processes run conducive,” he stated.
PBNU hopes that all preparation stages can be completed on time so that the 35th NU Congress can proceed smoothly as planned.
“Insha Allah, the Congress will be held from 1 to 5 August, while the location is still under discussion and will be further consulted with the leadership,” said Gus Ipul.
