NU Chairman Gus Yahya Says 35th Congress Preparations Mature, No More Concerns
Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf, commonly known as Gus Yahya, has confirmed that preparations for the 35th NU Congress have reached a mature stage. He stated that various issues which had previously been a source of concern regarding the event’s organisation have been successfully resolved. “I can say that everyone can be calm because, God willing, the preparations have been carried out well. There is nothing left to worry about,” Gus Yahya told reporters at the PBNU office in Central Jakarta. He explained that the selection of the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Tambakberas, Jombang, as the venue holds significant meaning, as it was founded by one of NU’s founders, KH Abdul Wahab Hasbullah. Gus Yahya believes this location will foster a conducive atmosphere, allowing the congress to proceed smoothly. He hopes the congress will produce decisions that bring benefit, not only for NU members but for the entire Indonesian nation and humanity at large. “The materials we have prepared concern the interests of the nation’s welfare and the benefit of all humanity,” he said. Regarding technical preparations, Gus Yahya noted that most aspects are complete, with the committee currently finalising details such as the official congress logo.
