The programme, which commenced in February and is scheduled to run until 24 May 2026, is being conducted both online and offline across eight different regions, including Bangkalan, Gresik, Sidoarjo, and Jombang in East Java, as well as North Lampung, South Lampung, Metro, and West Tulang Bawang in Lampung Province.

Moesafa, Secretary of LAZISNU PBNU, emphasised that women play a vital role in building families and society. Consequently, it is essential for women to possess the skills necessary to face developments in technology and the digital economy. “Women today hold a very significant role, both within the family environment and society. Therefore, they need to be equipped with digital and financial literacy skills so they are not merely technology users, but are able to utilise it for productive and beneficial purposes,” Moes_afa stated in a briefing on Tuesday.

Moesafa explained that the collaboration between NU Care-LAZISNU and the Unilever Indonesia Foundation is part of an effort to expand access to education and strengthen the capacity of women, particularly within pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) and grassroots communities.

Anik Rifqoh, Deputy Director of Fundraising, Public Relations, and IT at NU Care-LAZISNU PBNU, noted that the ‘Perempuan PandAI dan Berdaya’ (Smart & Empowered Women) programme is a collaboration designed to provide inclusive education reaching women from various backgrounds. “The programme has been running since February 2026, targeting approximately 20,000 women across various regions in Indonesia, aged between 12 and 45. Literacy activities are conducted both online and face-to-face. For online participants, 15,172 have been recorded, while 4,002 participated in offline sessions,” she explained.

For this programme, Anik stated that they have engaged trainers who are alumni of previous training sessions, alongside experienced master trainers, to ensure the material is effectively understood and applied by participants.

Through this initiative, NU Care-LAZISNU hopes that more Indonesian women will be able to use technology wisely and manage finances effectively. With these tools, women are expected to become more independent and empowered, contributing to the resilience of families and society amidst continuous technological advancements.

On the other hand, Nurdiana Darus, Director of Communications, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at Unilever Indonesia, stated that this programme aligns with the company’s commitment to promoting economic and digital inclusion for Indonesian women. “We at Unilever Indonesia are fully committed to supporting Indonesian women to become empowered, independent, and able to adapt in the digital era through this collaboration. We believe that when a woman is empowered—such as mastering financial management and AI technology wisely—the positive impact will not only be felt by herself but will also bring good welfare to her family and surrounding community,” she said.

The programme has garnered high enthusiasm from the public, with over 4,000 women from various backgrounds participating, including students, female santri, university students, teachers, MSME owners, and housewives.

One participant, Siti Mutaibah (42) from Sidoarjo, expressed the benefits of the material, particularly regarding the use of AI in daily activities. “AI makes things much easier for us, such as creating banners, flyers, and other needs, especially since we are in the era of social media,” she said. She also noted that the financial literacy material provided essential understanding for women to manage family finances wisely.

Similarly, Diah Ageng Lisnani, a student from SMA Negeri 2 Kalianda, South Lampung, expressed her gratitude for being able to attend the training free of charge, describing the experience as both exciting and beneficial.
