NU Care-LAZISNU has collaborated with Shopee Barokah to distribute aid comprising 40 tanks of clean water and hundreds of school supply packages to communities affected by disasters in several areas of Aceh and Central Java. The assistance, which forms part of NU Care-LAZISNU’s Ramadhan Solidarity programme, has been distributed since 5 March 2026 through the end of Ramadan.

The aid was channelled to 4,160 beneficiaries in Aceh Tamiang, Bireuen District, and Tegal, Central Java. Riri Khariroh, Executive Director of NU Care-LAZISNU, stated that the programme represents a humanitarian collaboration with Shopee Barokah.

“We are grateful to Shopee Barokah for supporting this programme—Ramadhan Solidarity for residents still affected by disasters in various regions. We hope that in the future we can continue to collaborate, thereby providing increasingly greater benefits to the wider community,” Riri said in a statement on Tuesday (10 March).

According to her, the distribution of aid represents both a demonstration of concern and moral support, particularly for children to maintain their enthusiasm for continuing their education.

“We are present to provide direct assistance to the community and help meet their needs, particularly for children’s learning requirements,” said Riri, who also visited the aid distribution process in Aceh Tamiang.

Radityo Triatmojo, Director of Public Policy at Shopee Indonesia, added: “Shopee, through Shopee Barokah, is committed to supporting the recovery process in disaster-affected areas. We hope that the clean water and school supplies distributed alongside LAZISNU can help meet the community’s basic needs and motivate children’s enthusiasm for learning in disaster-affected areas. In addition to providing direct assistance to disaster-affected communities, we are also launching a support programme to encourage small and medium-sized enterprise (UMKM) recovery through the ‘UMKM Sumatra Rising’ campaign on the Shopee application, so that local communities and entrepreneurs can recover quickly and grow stronger.”

Beyond logistics assistance, NU Care-LAZISNU, as part of its broader NU Cares programme, also inspected activities at Qur’anic Learning Gardens (TPQ) in local mosque compounds. Despite facility limitations, children’s Qur’an recitation activities continue with enthusiasm. However, improvements to facilities and infrastructure support remain necessary for a safer and more comfortable learning environment.

Riri added that NU Care-LAZISNU will continue to strengthen support for communities through various social and humanitarian programmes with the spirit of mutual cooperation.

“Over recent months we have endeavoured to be present through various humanitarian initiatives. Going forward, we will also collect more detailed data on family needs so that we can pass this information to parties who can help,” she said.

The distribution of aid brought joy to recipients. One such recipient was Aji, a sixth-grade student in Aceh Tamiang, who expressed happiness at receiving new books and learning materials. “Yes, very happy,” Aji said. He stated that the materials would be used immediately for schoolwork. “Yes, for school. Thank you LAZISNU and Shopee for the new books,” he said.

The collaboration between NU Care-LAZISNU and Shopee Barokah represents the spirit of mutual cooperation in assisting communities facing difficult times. Beyond easing their burden, the aid provided is expected to foster hope among residents in disaster-affected areas so they can recover.
