NTT Set to Be First Stop for Jokowi's Nationwide Tour

Former President Joko Widodo has stated that his health condition is showing significant improvement. Jokowi intends to carry out a nationwide tour agenda after being declared 99% recovered.

General Secretary of Projo—the volunteer support group for Jokowi—Freddy Alex Damanik said that the agenda is planned to begin in the coming month or June 2026.

“(The first destination to East Nusa Tenggara?) It’s not 100% certain, but strong indications point that way,” Freddy said when contacted by Tempo on Thursday, 14 May 2026.

According to him, in East Nusa Tenggara, Jokowi will greet and directly observe marine ecosystem cultivation programmes. “From what I heard, it’s seaweed cultivation,” Freddy stated.

Meanwhile, former General Chairman of the Jokowi President Volunteer Corps or BARA JP, Utje Gustaaf Patty, once mentioned that one of the places Jokowi would visit after no longer serving as president is East Nusa Tenggara.

According to Utje, even while still serving as President, Jokowi had a desire to encourage the people of NTT to develop seaweed cultivation as a commodity product.

“He wants to promote community economic development through that cultivation,” Utje said in November 2024.

Previously, supporter volunteer groups visited Jokowi’s residence in Sumber Ward, Banjarsari Subdistrict, Surakarta City, in early May 2026. The attending volunteer groups included Projo and BARA JP.

In that meeting, said Freddy Alex Damanik, besides listening to issues raised by the volunteer groups, Jokowi also had a private conversation with Projo’s General Chairman, Budi Arie Setiadi.

The 20-30 minute private discussion, he said, covered the continuity of Jokowi’s programmes in the current administration.

“From Budi Arie’s account, he advised that volunteers need to promote and support those programmes,” Freddy stated.
