NTT rebel to comply with summons

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: A rebel leader in East Nusa Tenggara said here on Thursday that he was ready to comply with a police summons for questioning over his campaigns for independence in the province.

"No problem. It will be better for me to explain my idea," said Pius Rengka, one of the rebel leaders who have declared a Timor Great State in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

However, he criticized the local police for summoning him, saying it would be better if they focused on dealing with other more urgent problems.

NTT deputy police chief Sr. Comr. Arthur Damanik said on Wednesday his office would summon Rengka to clarify his ideas on the establishment of a Timor Great State. He did not say when that would be. --Antara
