NTT quake aid fund reaches US$244,000, provincial govt says
Yohanes Abrianto Kore, acting head of the provincial administration bureau, said Wednesday the funds were held in the province’s disaster-relief account.
“The balance of the East Nusa Tenggara disaster-relief account stood at Rp4.3592 billion (US$244,000) as of Aug. 18,” he said.
The funds came from regional governments and public donations supporting earthquake relief efforts across East Nusa Tenggara, he said.
East Kalimantan provided Rp2.5 billion (US$140,000), Maluku Rp1.5 billion (US$84,000), while public donations totaled Rp359.2 million (US$20,000).
The province, through its disaster agency’s command post, has continued distributing logistical and medical supplies to affected areas, in addition to financial assistance.
On Tuesday, medical aid included 1,000 paracetamol tablets, 1,000 amoxicillin tablets, 1,000 bottles of ambroxol, 1,000 folic-acid tablets and injectable medicines.
Medical equipment included 100 disposable 3cc syringes, 250 Abbocath 24 units, 500 infusion sets, 200 pediatric infusion sets and 10 rolls of 5-by-5 tape.
Other medicines distributed included sucralfate, Ringer’s lactate, sodium chloride, guaifenesin, ketorolac, iron supplements, amlodipine, antacids, betahistine, cefadroxil, cetirizine and dexamethasone.
Additional supplies included omeprazole, salbutamol, intravenous paracetamol, Ventolin Nebules, sterile gauze, povidone-iodine, hand sanitizer, gentamicin, ibuprofen, Caviplex, Leukoplast, Rivanol, bandages and medical masks.
Food aid included instant porridge and various types of cup-packaged instant noodles to meet the needs of affected communities.
Yohanes said all aid received by the provincial government would be coordinated through emergency-response posts to ensure distribution matches communities’ needs.
“Aid will be distributed gradually to affected areas based on the level of need identified on the ground,” he said.
The provincial government is coordinating with regencies, the disaster agency and other groups to reach communities, particularly those hardest hit by the earthquake.
