NTT Provincial Government Syncs Policies with Ministry of Home Affairs to Strengthen Regional Services

Kupang (ANTARA) - The Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Provincial Government is synchronising several strategic policies with the Ministry of Home Affairs to accelerate the increase in regional own-source revenue (PAD), strengthen health services, and facilitate easier access to public services. “So yesterday, on Tuesday, I met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Tomsi Tohir, to discuss several strategic policies that can be synchronised,” said NTT Deputy Governor Johni Asadoma in Kupang on Wednesday. He stated that the discussions with Secretary General Tomsi Tohir and his team relate to real impacts for the people of NTT. Because, he said, the government wants the community to directly feel faster service changes, easier access, and improved quality. In that meeting, one of the agendas discussed was accelerating the status change of the NTT Regional Development Bank to Perseroda so that it can open broader financing access for MSMEs, farmers, and small business actors. According to him, strengthening the regional financing sector is expected to drive economic growth for the community and reinforce business independence. In addition, strengthening local tax and levy regulations is directed towards increasing PAD, which will subsequently be used to finance basic service developments such as education, health, and infrastructure. “Every increase in PAD must return to the community in the form of better services and equitable development,” he said. He added that optimising Samsat services, including regulating vehicles with out-of-area plates, is a step to strengthen fiscal justice while increasing regional financial capacity. In the health sector, the NTT Provincial Government is also pushing for the strengthening of Regional Public Service Agencies (BLUD) for hospitals so that services are faster, medical personnel are more adequate, and health facility quality improves. “With a more flexible system, hospitals will be more responsive in providing health services,” he said. In bureaucratic reform, the local government targets simplifying organisational structures and arranging positions so that public services become more efficient and responsive. As follow-up, the NTT Provincial Government is preparing to accelerate the resolution of strategic regulations, strengthen Samsat services based on collaboration with regencies/cities, increase hospital capacity, optimise regional assets, and reinforce civil servant governance. “We are moving quickly to follow up on all these results. The target is clear: the community feels real changes in services and welfare,” said Johni.
