Local government assesses that the transition to clean energy must be inclusive, not only focusing on cities and large companies, but reaching all layers of society and levels of government.

Kupang, NTT (ANTARA) - The Nusa Tenggara Timur Provincial Government (Pemprov NTT) is strengthening the collaboration of the climate entrepreneurship ecosystem to drive a low-carbon and sustainable economy through cross-sector synergies, including government, business actors, and development partners.

“This activity serves as a source of information related to various policies as well as material for preparing public policies in the fields of climate change and entrepreneurship,” said the Governor’s Special Staff for Economy and Development, Jusuf Lery Rupidara, in Kupang on Tuesday.

This was conveyed during the Dissemination of the Results of Mapping the Climate Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in Eastern Indonesia, organised by New Energy Nexus Indonesia together with the Australia-Indonesia Climate and Infrastructure Partnership (KINETIK).

He stated that Pemprov NTT appreciates the cooperation between Indonesia and Australia in driving new economic growth through strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

He also encouraged local innovators, SMEs, and startup business actors to play a role as drivers of sustainable projects.

“We hope that this series of dissemination on the development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Eastern Indonesia runs smoothly, strengthens synergy and communication among stakeholders, and provides benefits for the development of NTT,” he said.

On the same occasion, Wesly Sinulingga from the Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development (DJSPSK) of the Ministry of Finance said that the transition towards a low-carbon and sustainable economy is an economic transformation agenda, not merely an environmental issue.

In addition, entrepreneurship is currently the future of the economy, with many innovations emerging from regions, young generations, and women.

“Regions need to be viewed as centres of innovation and new growth, not just as policy recipients,” he stated.

He emphasised that the economic transition must also open opportunities for local communities, SMEs, women, youth, and vulnerable groups, so that entrepreneurship is not only oriented towards growth but also social impact.

Going forward, he continued, the Ministry of Finance will support through strengthening sustainable financial ecosystems, policies, financing instruments, and collaborative cooperation.

“We hope this forum produces collaborations, projects, and real investments in NTT Province,” he said.

In the forum, a discussion session was also held with two local startups, namely Kuan Timor Teknologi and Sumba Solusi Alam, which discussed profiles of technology solutions, challenges of climate entrepreneurship, and input for strengthening the ecosystem.
