NTT Provincial Government Proposes Revitalisation of 674 Schools to Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education

Kupang (ANTARA) - The Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) provincial government has proposed 674 school buildings for inclusion in the educational unit revitalisation programme by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) for 2026. “For 2026, our proposal includes 674 schools for revitalisation,” said the Head of the NTT Education Office, Ambrosius Kodo, in Kupang on Monday. He made this statement during a coordination meeting on the implementation of the Kemendikdasmen programme and regional policy synchronisation, which was also attended by the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti. Ambrosius explained that the proposed number for revitalisation consists of 321 proposals for vocational schools (SMK) and 353 for senior high schools (SMA). “All have been submitted and are in process. We cannot yet predict whether they will be accepted or not,” he said. However, he noted that the school buildings proposed for revitalisation are indeed needed for better education. Therefore, he requested that if there are still unfulfilled requirements, such as incomplete land certificates, they should be completed while awaiting the land office process. The same applies to other requirements. Furthermore, he added that currently, around 10 schools in NTT are in the process of revitalisation in Jakarta. “The principals of those 10 schools have already gone to Jakarta for verification, and if complete, they can proceed,” he added. He hopes that hundreds of schools in NTT that need revitalisation will receive attention from the central government, so that NTT also has comfortable schools for children.
