NTT Provincial Government Proposes 19 Roads and 7 Bridges Worth IDR 1.649 Trillion to Central Government
The Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has proposed infrastructure development worth IDR 1.649 trillion to the central government. The proposal was submitted by Deputy Governor Johni Asadoma during a meeting with the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ayodhia GL Kalake, in Jakarta on Monday (13/7/2026).
“We have come with development priorities from all districts and cities in NTT. Given the archipelagic geographical conditions and challenging topography, we greatly hope for support from the central government,” Johni said in a press release.
Johni explained that the provincial government officially proposed the handling of 19 strategic road sections across 19 districts, with a total length of approximately 348 kilometres. The investment required for this road package amounts to IDR 1.544 trillion. In addition to roads, Johni stated that the NTT administration also proposed the construction of seven bridges, with a total budget requirement of around IDR 105.13 billion.
The Head of the Public Works and Public Housing Agency of NTT, Benyamin Nahak, explained that the development priorities are directed at addressing the region’s specific challenges. There are three main focuses of the proposal: strengthening connectivity in the Timor mainland area bordering Timor-Leste; post-disaster infrastructure recovery in Flores and Alor; and improving access to tourism areas and production centres in Sumba, Rote Ndao, and Sabu Raijua.
Benyamin stressed that this development holds national strategic value. Besides supporting border areas, it is also important for tourism development, food security, and economic connectivity in Eastern Indonesia. “However, our challenge is significant. The regional budget capacity is very limited to cover the infrastructure needs in this archipelagic and mountainous region,” Benyamin said.
Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ayodhia GL Kalake, appreciated the readiness of the NTT Provincial Government. Ayodhia stated he would follow up on the meeting with a technical meeting involving the Ministry of Public Works. “We are ready to assist and oversee this. This meeting will be followed up through a technical meeting with the Ministry of Public Works. Despite budget efficiency measures, we will still strive to be part of the solution,” Ayodhia said. The former Acting Governor of NTT also provided input for the proposal to be processed quickly, such as completing the detailed engineering design, environmental documents, and fulfilling the standards for transferring the status of provincial roads to national roads.
