The operation of a number of official vehicles belonging to the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Provincial Government has been restricted. The measure is an effort to save the budget and fuel. “Many official vehicles are now only used as needed, with many limitations,” said Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena on Tuesday (16/6/2026). Melki revealed that the official travel budget for several department heads has been exhausted. He said the NTT Provincial Government has made various adjustments to save the budget. “During this time, the NTT Provincial Government has also implemented work from home and restrictions on government activities. The provincial government is currently drafting Governor Regulation Number 24 of 2026 concerning the restriction of activities from 18.00 to 19.30 Central Indonesia Time,” Melki explained. In addition, the NTT Provincial Government is also limiting the use of subsidised fuel. The subsidised fuel quota is now only allocated for vehicles with NTT licence plates. “Those from outside, because they are not included in the quota, we limit it to NTT plates only. Those from outside can use fuel, but not the subsidised one,” explained the Golongan Karya Party politician. According to Melki, owners of cars and motorcycles with out-of-region plates who wish to use NTT’s quota of subsidised fuel must transfer their vehicle registration. If vehicles with out-of-region plates take NTT’s subsidised fuel allocation, the quota for this province will decrease. “I take care of my people first, for the subsidised fuel,” stressed the former Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives.
