NTT Police to Hold Case Review on Intimidation of Doctor Icha This Week
The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police are scheduled to hold a case review this week regarding the alleged intimidation of Doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Doctor Icha. The case involves three members of the Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and a veterinarian from the TTU Livestock Service.
“We will conduct the case review this Wednesday or Thursday,” said NTT Police Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Commissioner Sigit Haryono, at the NTT Police Headquarters on Monday (20/7/2026).
Sigit explained that the legal status of the four reported individuals will be determined after the case review. The three DPRD members named in the case are Therezius Lazakar (Golkar), Robert Tubani (PKB), and Veronika Lake (PDIP). The fourth individual is a veterinarian named Maria Mathildis Sau.
“If criminal elements are found, we will immediately elevate their status to the investigation stage,” Sigit stated.
Sigit claimed that the NTT Police have not encountered significant obstacles in the inquiry. According to him, the four reported individuals have been cooperative in responding to investigators’ summons. Police have also examined expert witnesses in psychology, criminology, victimology, general criminal law, and criminal law.
“They have provided their statements, for instance regarding the words used and the gestures displayed at the time. Thus, based on each discipline, a complete picture of the incident will be formed,” Sigit explained.
Sigit noted that a total of 35 witnesses have been examined so far in connection with the death of Doctor Icha. He assured that the case is being handled professionally to ensure the victim’s family receives legal certainty.
“To date, 35 witnesses have been examined in relation to the case being handled by the NTT Police,” Sigit concluded.
