NTT Police Partner with Community Security Forces for Easter 2026 Protection

The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police (Polda NTT) are partnering with community security forces from various societal groups for the Easter celebrations in 2026. Members of these Pamswakarsa units will operate under the coordination of Community Policing Officers (Bhabinkamtibmas) and involve local communities around churches. This was stated by the Head of Operations Bureau (Karo Ops) of Polda NTT, Senior Commissioner Joni Afrizal Syarifuddin, to reporters following the Roll Call of Troops for the Territorial Police Operation Semana Santa Turangga 2026 at Polda NTT headquarters on Tuesday (31/3). “Due to limited personnel, community security forces have been formed. These forces are accommodated by our Community Policing Officers from the churches themselves, local youth leaders, and surrounding community environments,” said Joni. He explained that the limited number of Indonesian National Police (Polri) personnel is one reason for involving Pamswakarsa, ensuring all churches receive proper security during Easter celebrations in NTT. Joni detailed that for the Semana Santa operation from 1-15 April 2026 in NTT, at least 3,227 personnel will be deployed to secure the Easter festivities. “The number of personnel deployed is 3,227, comprising 1,319 Polri members and 1,908 from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and related agencies to secure 1,113 churches across NTT, including 432 priority churches,” Joni clarified. He added that the 432 priority churches will receive direct protection from police personnel. “The 432 priority churches will fully receive direct security from Polri,” he stated. For churches not among the 432 priorities, security will still be provided by Pamswakarsa coordinated by local Bhabinkamtibmas. “I emphasise that no church will be left without security,” he affirmed. Joni also mentioned that for the Semana Santa Turangga 2026 operation, they have prepared 85 posts to be manned by Polri, TNI, and related agency personnel. These consist of 38 security posts, 26 service posts, and 21 integrated posts. The joint roll call of troops for Operation Semana Santa Turangga 2026 was held today at the Polda NTT field, led by the Deputy Chief of NTT Police, Brigadier General Barkoro Tri Prabowo.
