The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police have introduced a new approach to strengthening the quality of their human resources through mental health and emotional management training. The activity was held to welcome the 80th anniversary of Bhayangkara. Hundreds of NTT Police personnel participated in a mass Ultimate The Source Body, Mind, Soul Emotional Freedom Technique (USEFT) session at the Bhayangkara Field of the NTT Police Headquarters on Tuesday. The training, conducted after the morning assembly, was led by Coach Ipda Risa Malelak and the USEFT counsellor team. The personnel took part in a series of activities combining relaxation techniques, positive affirmations, and an energy psychology approach. The activity is designed to help personnel create self-balance, manage stress, maintain emotional stability, and strengthen mental readiness to face the increasingly complex dynamics of police duties. NTT Police Chief Inspector General Dr. Rudi Darmoko stated that the readiness of police personnel cannot be built solely on physical ability. He said that mental health and emotional management are also crucial parts of facing the challenges of the job. ‘I see that the challenges of police duties today are increasingly complex and dynamic. Therefore, the readiness of personnel is not enough if it is only built on physical ability, but must also be strengthened with good mental health and emotional management. For me, maintaining the psychological condition of members is an important part of forming professional, humanist Polri personnel who are able to provide the best service to the community,’ he said. Police personnel face daily dynamics that demand technical readiness, physical fitness, and self-resilience. Therefore, a balance between body, mind, and soul or spirit is considered important to strengthen the ability of members to manage pressure. With a healthy mental condition and more controlled emotions, personnel are expected to be more prepared to carry out police duties while providing optimal service to the community. USEFT is a method developed by the NTT Police Chief together with a research team from the SBMS Institute. This method is based on an energy psychology approach by synchronising aspects of the body, mind, and soul or spirit. The approach is used to help create self-balance, manage emotional pressure, and improve mental health quality and self-resilience. The spirit of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary was also realised by the NTT Police through the ‘NTT Penuh Kasih’ (NTT Full of Love) programme. The programme extends the benefits of mental health therapy not only to internal police personnel but also to the community. One form of this expansion was carried out by the Manggarai Police, who provided USEFT mental health therapy for 150 inmates at the Class IIB Ruteng Detention Centre. This activity is a form of the police’s concern for the community’s psychological health. The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, stated that USEFT is one of the steps taken by the NTT Police to maintain the mental health of personnel amidst the demands of police duties. ‘This USEFT therapy is one of the steps taken by the NTT Police to maintain the mental health of personnel amidst the increasingly complex and dynamic demands of police duties. We believe that members who have a good balance of body, mind, and soul will be better prepared to face the challenges of duty and able to provide more optimal, humanist, and professional services to the community,’ he said. The development of USEFT with the SBMS Institute is one of the NTT Police’s innovations in presenting a new approach to strengthening the quality of personnel and the community. Through a method that prioritises the balance of body, mind, and soul, participants are expected to be able to manage emotions, maintain inner calm, and improve the quality of daily life. Through the momentum of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary, the NTT Police affirmed that the dedication of the Indonesian National Police is not only realised through security and law enforcement aspects, but also through concern for the quality of human resources. By building strong personnel from within through the USEFT approach, the NTT Police hope to present a humanist Bhayangkara, close to the community, and bring positive energy to East Nusa Tenggara.
