NTT Police Examine Parents and Boyfriend in Doctor Icha Intimidation Case
Investigators from the Women and Children Protection Directorate (PPA) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police questioned the parents and boyfriend of the late doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Doctor Icha, on Friday (10 July).
The questioning was carried out as part of an investigation into a family report concerning alleged intimidation experienced by Doctor Icha while on duty at the Emergency Department (IGD) of Leona Hospital in Kefamenanu.
Family lawyer Victor Emanuel Manbait said the questioning of the victim’s father, mother and boyfriend was conducted by three investigators from the PPA Unit of the General Crimes Directorate at NTT Regional Police.
“The taking of statements began at around 10.30 Central Indonesia Time. The family was accompanied by three lawyers, namely Cony Tiluata, Arif Victor Manbait and Rachaman. The questioning was halted at around 14.10 for a rest and lunch break, then resumed,” said Victor.
According to Victor, the family complied with the investigators’ summons to provide statements needed for the investigation process.
Earlier, on Friday (3 July), Doctor Icha’s family reported three members of the North Central Timor (TTU) Regency Legislative Council to NTT Regional Police. The report related to alleged intimidation of Doctor Icha while she was treating a patient at the Leona Hospital emergency department in Kefamenanu.
The family suspects the actions had an impact on Doctor Icha’s psychological condition before she took her own life in Kupang. This allegation is now being examined in depth by NTT Regional Police investigators through the questioning of several witnesses and the collection of evidence.
