The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police deployed one Brimob Platoon from Kompi 1 Batalyon B Pelopor Maumere to secure a bloody inter-village clash on Adonara Island, in East Flores Regency, NTT. The clash between villages left five residents shot with improvised firearms.

“We have deployed one platoon of Brimob personnel of the NTT Regional Police to assist security at the conflict site,” said Public Relations Head of NTT Police, Senior Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, to detikBali on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

Henry explained that the deployment was intended to assist Flores Timur Police in controlling security and preventing the conflict from spreading among residents. After arriving in Larantuka, the personnel crossed from Larantuka Port to Tobilata Port aboard the Cahaya Welang vessel to the location of the conflict.

In addition, Flores Timur Police had already been on the scene to maintain security and prevent the two groups from clashing again. The NTT Police assured that security measures would continue until the situation in Adonara Timur is fully conducive again.

“We urge all communities to exercise restraint and not take actions that could worsen the situation. Trust the resolution of this matter to law enforcement and local government,” Henry said.

Earlier reports indicate that the number of victims in the inter-village clash in Adonara Timur District, Flores Timur, had risen to five. The five victims consisted of three residents of Narasaosina Village and two residents of Waiburak Village.

Danny Gunawan, Director of Adonara Pratama General Hospital, said the three residents from Narasaosina were Siprianus Toda Geroda (66), Agustinus Notan Kraeng, and Inosensius Daeng (36). They were injured after being struck by a homemade firearm on the thighs and legs.

Meanwhile, two residents of Waiburak, Mansyur Ola (39) and Jumadin Saputra (22) were reported to have injuries to the right thigh, neck, and area beneath the ear.

It is known that the TNI also deployed around 45 personnel to secure the clashes. The dozens of TNI personnel came from Koramil 02/Adonara and the Logistics Support Office (Makodim) 1624/Flotim.

Flores Timur Police Chief AKBP Adhitya Octorio Putra urged residents from the two villages involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could escalate tensions. He said the police were also conducting intensive communication with customary leaders, community leaders, and village governments to defuse the situation.

‘We urge all residents to maintain security and order. Entrust the resolution of this matter to law enforcement and local government through dialogue and deliberation,’ Adhitya concluded.
