The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has reported that the death toll from the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has increased, with 100 people now confirmed dead. “As of today, 100 people have died, 1,603 have been injured, and 180,327 have been displaced,” said BNPB Head Suharyanto during a press conference broadcast on BNPB’s YouTube channel on Monday (24/8/2026). A total of 73,818 housing units have been damaged, including 23,276 severely damaged units. “Preliminary data shows 73,818 damaged houses, comprising 23,276 heavily damaged, 17,563 moderately damaged, and 32,979 lightly damaged units,” he said. Suharyanto also noted that 1,915 public facilities have been damaged. “Preliminary data on public facilities—including schools, places of worship, government offices, and other infrastructure—shows 1,915 damaged units,” he said. “Of course, this is preliminary data; as time goes on, the figures will become more complete,” he added.
