The Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, together with the Atambua Immigration Office, distributed books and stationery to children in the border area of Maumutin Village, Raihat District, Belu Regency, on Thursday (7/5/2026). The activity took place during a working visit by the NTT Immigration team to several border crossing posts in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border region.

During the visit, Saroha Manullang, Head of Administration at the NTT Immigration Regional Office, was accompanied by Nursetya, Acting Head of the Atambua Immigration Office, along with the full team from the NTT Immigration Regional Office.

This activity represents a tangible form of concern and the state’s presence through the immigration apparatus in supporting education, nurturing the spirit of learning, and serving as a means of humanistic and social engagement that strengthens national pride among border communities.

“The state is present not only when there are problems, but also when border children need encouragement to learn and reach for dreams as high as the Indonesian sky,” said Saroha Manullang in a press release.

The sharing activity spontaneously arose in mind and heart after conducting working visits and directly interacting with the community, children, and immigration officers on duty at the Napan State Border Crossing Post (PLBN), the Haumeniana Traditional Crossing Post (PLBT), as well as the Kefamenanu Immigration Post in Aplasi, North Central Timor Regency (TTU), until late at night.

Separately, Arvin Gumilang, Head of the NTT Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, stated that the distribution of stationery in the form of books and pens strengthens the emotional bond between border communities and immigration officers in the border region, while also raising awareness of the importance of early education.

“Border children are the frontline guardians of the nation’s future. Educating them means safeguarding Indonesia’s sovereignty for generations to come,” said Arvin.

This activity is more than just distributing books and stationery. It is a firm message that the state is present, the state cares, and the state never forgets its citizens living at the forefront of the Republic of Indonesia.

“For the children of Maumutin-Turiskain Village, this moment is like a fresh breeze bringing new hope to continue learning, growing, and pursuing their dreams. The sincere smiles, touches of emotion, and joy radiating from every child’s face are like an oasis and a motivator for me and the team to work well, create, serve, and share,” expressed Saroha with heartfelt emotion.
