NTT Earthquake Death Toll Reaches 100, 180,327 Displaced

The death toll from the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has now reached 100 people. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) also recorded 1,603 people injured and 180,327 people displaced.

“As of today, there are 100 fatalities, 1,603 injured, and 180,327 displaced,” said BNPB Head Suharyanto during a press conference on Monday (24/8/2026), as reported by detikNews.

In addition to the loss of life, the earthquake caused damage to 73,818 houses. Of these, 23,276 suffered severe damage.

“Provisional data shows 73,818 damaged housing units, comprising 23,276 severely damaged, 17,563 moderately damaged, and 32,979 lightly damaged,” he said.

BNPB also recorded damage to 1,915 public facilities. The damage includes schools, places of worship, government offices, and other infrastructure.

“Provisional data on public facilities — schools, places of worship, government offices, and other infrastructure — shows 1,915 damaged units,” he said.

Suharyanto stressed that all figures remain provisional. The impact data will continue to be updated as the assessment process progresses.

“Of course, this is provisional data; over time, the data will become more complete,” he added.
