The Assistant for Supervision (Aswas) at the High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is scheduled to re-examine contractor Hironimus Sonbay, alias Roni, regarding alleged extortion by the Head of the Medan District Prosecutor’s Office (Kajari), Ridwan Sujana Angsar, along with the Coordinator for General Criminal Affairs (Pidum) at Kejati NTT, Noven Verderikus Bulan. In the case, Roni is the defendant in a corruption offence (tipikor) related to the renovation of primary and secondary school buildings in Kupang City and Kupang Regency. Information gathered indicates that the examination is scheduled for today at the Class IIB Kupang Detention Centre. The Head of Legal Information at Kejati NTT, Anak Agung Raka Putra Dharman, confirmed the examination. “The information is that it is planned that way (re-examination of Roni),” Raka said when contacted on Thursday (7/5/2026). Regarding developments in the extortion case, Raka stated that Aswas at Kejati NTT is currently still clarifying several names mentioned. According to him, the examinations and clarifications are being conducted at Kejati NTT. “At present, the clarification process is still ongoing at Kejati NTT,” Raka explained. Previously, on Monday (4/5/2026), Roni’s lawyer, Fransisco Bessi, was examined by Aswas Kejati NTT. That examination was also related to the extortion case. Fransisco explained that he was questioned for about five hours. During the examination, Fransisco provided statements regarding data and evidence related to the extortion. “In this case, specifically the timeline of events from 2021, 2022, and 2023. Both from the prosecutor RSA and NB,” Fransisco clarified. In addition, Fransisco requested that Roni be re-examined. Because when Roni gave his statement, it was not supported by data or documents. Thus, Roni only relied on his memory. According to him, the statement from one of the defendants, Didik Brand, who was also examined as a witness, has been consistent and unchanged. “Thus, this will determine the direction of the issue (extortion),” Fransisco explained. It was previously reported that two prosecutors are alleged to have been involved in extorting defendant Hironimus Sonbay, alias Roni, in the school renovation project in Kupang City and Kupang Regency. The two are Ridwan Sujana Angsar and Noven Verderikus Bulan. Ridwan currently serves as Kajari Medan in North Sumatra. Meanwhile, Noven Bulan is assigned to Kejati NTT. The alleged extortion came to light during the reading of the plea note or defence by Roni’s lawyer, Fransisco Bessi, at the Kupang Corruption Court (PN Tipikor Kupang) on Tuesday night (28/4/2026). The trial was presided over by Chief Judge I Nyoman Agus Hermawan, with members Raden Haris Prasetyo and Bibik Nurudduja. The defendants in this case are Roni, Didik, and Hendro Ndolu. “From the beginning, this case has been too forced because the defendant has already paid a lot of money to certain prosecutors, namely Ridwan Sujana Angsar, who at that time served as Kajari Oelamasi, Kupang Regency,” Fransisco said while reading the plea note on Monday. Fransisco revealed that Ridwan received Rp 140 million in 2022, paid in stages. The first payment of Rp 50 million was made at Hotel Sasando in Kupang City. The second payment of Rp 50 million was handed over through a person named Gusty Pisdon at his home in Sikumana Subdistrict, Kupang City. Subsequently, Ridwan met Roni at Hotel Naka. In that meeting, Ridwan claimed that the money he received was only Rp 40 million. Roni then called Gusty to inquire about the remaining money. Gusty admitted to having given Rp 10 million to Benfrid Foeh, who was later identified as a prosecutor. Ridwan was also said to have met defendant Didik at Oepoi Sports Hall in Kupang City and demanded an additional Rp 50 million. “At that time, the prosecutor named Ridwan Sujana Angsar said that he did not want to know, you two (Roni and Didik) must prepare Rp 50 million, tomorrow it must be handed over to me because there is a need in Jakarta,” Fransisco recounted. Because Didik did not have the money, Roni covered the demand and delivered Rp 50 million to the gate of Kejati NTT. The money was received by Ridwan’s personal driver and witnessed by Roni’s driver. Besides Ridwan, Fransisco mentioned that Noven Bulan, who at the time served as Head of Intelligence at Kejari Oelamasi, is also alleged to have extorted Roni for around Rp 175 million. Of that amount, Rp 150 million was used, while the rest was said to be for paying an expert from Kupang State Polytechnic. Roni was also said to have handed over Rp 500 million to the commitment-making official (PPK) Hendro Ndolu, paid in two stages: Rp 200 million and Rp 30 million. “Thus, all that evidence has been officially submitted on 21 April 2026 during the trial and directly received by the panel of judges handling the case,” Fransisco revealed.
