NTB wins beach volleyball race

JAKARTA (JP): Host Nusa Tenggara (NTB) won the men's national
beach volley ball title on Saturday when the team beat East Java
2-1 in the final in Mataram, the provincial capital.

The home players failed to make a clean sweep of the title,
however, with their women's team surrendering 1-2 to Jakarta in
the other final, which marked the conclusion of the annual
national championships.

A huge field of some 150 players, mostly from the eastern
Indonesian provinces, took part in the three-day championships,
which aimed to scout for talent and to make two-a-side beach
volleyball more popular, Antara reported yesterday. (arf)
