The Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Village Chiefs (Aksi) for West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Saurim, has expressed full support for the national flagship programme, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG). According to him, the MBG programme is a strategic policy of the President that is included in the Nawacita agenda. Saurim assessed that MBG has a noble aim to improve the nutritional quality of Indonesian children, especially those living in rural, remote, and isolated areas. ‘We assess that the MBG programme can make an important contribution to creating a smart, healthy, and competitive generation, which will become the golden generation of 2045,’ he said in a press release in Jakarta on Saturday (4/7/2026). The Head of Batu Jangkih Village, Southwest Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, NTB Province, explained that the MBG programme has proven to have a positive impact on three pillars of development. First, improving the quality of human resources. Second, accelerating rural economic growth. Third, accelerating the equitable distribution of people’s welfare. ‘In addition, this programme not only meets the nutritional needs of school children, but also has an impact on reducing the number of malnourished children, preventing stunting, and fulfilling balanced nutrition for pregnant women, as well as improving children’s concentration and enthusiasm for learning,’ said Saurim.
