NTB Tops Indonesia in Building Permit Approvals
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has the highest achievement in issuing Building Permit Approvals (PBG) for the construction of affordable housing in Indonesia. To date, NTB has issued 64 PBG licenses for the construction of 6,170 housing units. This was conveyed by Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian at the Coordinating Meeting (Rakor) of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) at the Merumatta Senggigi Hotel, Lombok, West Lombok Regency, on Tuesday May 19, 2026. ‘The NTB Province is the highest in issuing 64 PBG licenses, forming 6,170 housing units,’ Tito asserted. In the same occasion, Housing and Public Housing Minister (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, also known as Ara, explained that the government continues to accelerate access to decent housing for the people through policies that are pro-low-income households (MBR), including through the acceleration of PBG issuance and fee waivers. He said that housing sector development requires synergy between the central government, regional governments, business sector, and the community so that the housing program can run optimally. In addition to highlighting the PBG achievement in NTB, Tito also mentioned the Self-Help Housing Stimulus (BSPS) program, which is seen as a major government step in improving the quality of people’s housing. ‘The 400,000 BSPS home renovation program is the first in history and cannot be accommodated by the APBD, and now the PKP Minister provides at least 500 BSPS home renovations for each district in NTB, NTT, Maluku, North Maluku, and Papua,’ Tito said. The government is also allocating the construction of 15,000 homes in border areas through the National Border Management Agency as part of the national development equity strategy. The Forkopimda Rakor discussed various national strategic issues, from strengthening maritime security and national defence to evaluating regional government strategic programs aligned with the national development vision of President Prabowo Subianto.
