NTB Secures Additional 10,000 Liveable Housing Units for 2026 from Central Government
The Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara (Pemprov NTB) has successfully secured an allocation of 10,000 Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) units for the 2026 budget. This figure represents a sharp increase of more than six times compared to the 2025 achievement. This certainty was obtained directly during a coordination meeting with the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, at the Ministry of PKP office in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6/2027).
Vice Governor (Wagub) of NTB, Indah Dhamayanti Putri, stated that this achievement is the result of diplomacy and solid data regarding the real needs of the NTB community on the ground. “Alhamdulillah, our struggle at the central level was responded to very well by the Minister. In 2025, NTB only received 1,610 units. Initially, for 2026 we were capped at 6,418 units. However, after we further convinced them of the urgency in the region, our allocation was boosted to reach 10,000 units,” said Dinda in her statement on Wednesday (1/7/2026). Dinda emphasised that this quota surge will be a breath of fresh air that accelerates the alleviation of extreme poverty and improves the quality of life for Low-Income Communities (MBR) in Bumi Gora.
Head of the Public Works, Housing and Settlement Areas (PU-Perkim) Office of NTB, Lalu Wijaya Kusuma, stated that the BSPS programme allocation for NTB has jumped sharply in this budget period. “BSPS from 2025 was around 1,600, now it has become 9,998, let’s just call it 10,000. In terms of calculation, the increase reaches 600 per cent,” said Lalu Wijaya Kusuma when met in Mataram on Wednesday (1/7/2026). Wijaya revealed that the Ministry of PKP will closely monitor the realisation of this 10,000-unit test case before disbursing additional aid in NTB. According to Wijaya, the Minister of PKP stressed that this 10,000-unit quota is the initial phase of performance testing for the region. The central government will assess the absorption rate, timeliness, and quality of programme execution in the field. “If it is satisfactory, the aid tap will certainly be increased again. If we are ready and we show good performance, the Minister of PKP is ready to add more,” said Wijaya.
Pemprov NTB, Wijaya explained, is very ready to face this challenge. This is because the poverty and Uninhabitable Housing (RTLH) database owned by NTB is much larger than the current quota. Based on regional stock data, there are approximately 34,000 houses on the waiting list. “Our data is actually more than 10,000, there are even 34,000. Now it is just a matter of the verification and validation process again to ensure target accuracy. Of those 34,000, if we subtract the current 10,000, there are still 24,000 units ready to be proposed next,” added Wijaya. Regarding the execution pattern in the field, Wijaya confirmed that this programme continues to prioritise the active involvement of the local community in a labour-intensive manner, similar to the community empowerment schemes applied previously. The Minister of PKP also stressed that the physical construction work must optimise local labour and potential to drive the grassroots economy, without creating new, non-urgent business chains.
To ensure target accuracy at the grassroots level, Pemprov NTB has instructed its ranks to prioritise communities in the decile 1 and decile 2 categories (the lowest welfare levels). “Insyaallah, it will be regulated later through a Governor’s Decree. In fact, we are also directing that decile 1 and decile 2 must absolutely be prioritised,” Wijaya stressed. On the other hand, this housing guarantee programme is not without obstacles. At the site level, village heads have relayed complaints from beneficiary residents regarding the amount of physical assistance, which is currently capped at IDR 20 million per unit. With the current high surge in building material prices on the market, the IDR 20 million fund is considered only sufficient to complete minimal roof repairs and basic wall plastering. This condition makes the renovation results feel less than optimal for the receiving community. Wijaya stated that Pemprov NTB is reviewing and proposing a nominal adjustment formulation to the central government so that the assistance can be increased to IDR 25 million to accommodate additional building materials and labour costs. “That is correct, that is also what we are trying to propose so it can be increased. We in the Province are also trying to propose an addition, for materials and labour costs to become 25 million. But for the time being, officially we still have to proceed with this 20 million figure because it has not changed,” explained Wijaya. “Yesterday the Minister made a statement that for remote areas like Papua, the calculation is not 40 million to 50 million that is suitable. But that is the only one mentioned to have increased, while for us (NTB) it is still at the 20 million figure for now,” concluded Wijaya.
