NTB Schools Warned Against Adding Extra Classes During 2026 Student Admissions, Face Sanctions
The Education and Culture Office (Disdikpora) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has issued a stern warning to all state senior high school (SMA) and vocational high school (SMK) principals who open learning groups (rombel) exceeding the quota in the 2026/2027 New Student Admission System (SPMB). Schools that brazenly add learning groups outside the provisions are threatened with being unable to input students into the Basic Education Data (Dapodik) system.
The Head of the NTB Education and Culture Office (Disdikpora), Syamsul Hadi, stressed that the number of learning groups in each school has been determined and locked in the technical guidelines (juknis) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year SPMB, which opened on 2 June. “If it exceeds what is in the technical guidelines we have issued, those students will not be entered into the Basic Education Data (Dapodik) system,” Syamsul asserted when met at the NTB Governor’s Office on Thursday (4/6/2026).
According to Syamsul, all school principals must comply with the established provisions. He reminded schools not to try to add learning groups in order to accommodate more students. “We emphasise that principals must not play games in setting these learning groups,” he added.
Syamsul explained that the number of learning groups in each SMA and SMK has been calculated based on classroom availability. Therefore, adding learning groups beyond the quota is strictly prohibited. Referring to the technical guidelines data, SMAN 2 Mataram and SMAN 1 Narmada are the schools with the highest number of learning groups, each managing 14 groups. The capacity of each group varies, ranging from 36 to 40 students.
Syamsul said the quota per learning group refers to the Decree of the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Number 14 of 2026. The quota also accounts for students repeating a grade as well as participants in the Secondary Education Affirmation Programme (ADEM). If the affirmation, transfer, or achievement pathways are not fully utilised, the remaining quota will be directly reallocated to increase the domicile pathway quota. The composition of admission pathways in this year’s SPMB implementation is regulated with the following percentages:
Domicile Pathway (Zoning): 35 per cent in all schools.
Affirmation Pathway (Underprivileged): 30 per cent.
Achievement Pathway: 30 per cent.
Transfer Pathway (Parental Relocation): 5 per cent.
Specifically for the Achievement Pathway, the NTB Disdikpora has divided it into several detailed categories: Academic Report Achievement (11 per cent) using the accumulated report card grades from semesters 1 to 5 in Indonesian Language, Mathematics, English, and Science; Certificate/Charter Achievement 9 per cent; Religious Achievement 7 per cent; and Student Council Chairperson Achievement 3 per cent (specifically for those who have served as head of the intra-school organisation).
