NTB Regional Police Deploy Thousands of Personnel to Secure MotoGP Mandalika
Mataram (ANTARA) - The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) are deploying thousands of joint personnel to secure the MotoGP event series at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency, from 9–11 October 2026.
The Head of the NTB Regional Police Operations Bureau, Kombes Pol. Erwin Rachmat, stated that the security scheme is designed in waves, ranging from the pre-event stage to the post-race period.
“Our security series begins with intelligence operations for two weeks from 14–27 September, followed by public order maintenance operations from 28 September to 4 October,” he said when met in Mataram on Thursday.
Erwin noted that the main security operation for MotoGP Mandalika is scheduled to take place over 12 days, from 5 to 16 October 2026.
During the initial security phase from 5 to 7 October, Polda NTB will station 1,344 personnel. This number will increase to 2,675 personnel during the peak of the racing activities, which take place from 8 to 12 October 2026.
Meanwhile, during the post-race and logistics return phase from 13–16 October, Polda NTB will deploy 837 personnel to ensure that security conditions remain conducive.
According to Erwin, the security force will be bolstered by 175 personnel from the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri), support from the Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas), the Samapta Directorate, BKO personnel from the Bali Regional Police, information and communication technology equipment, and one helicopter unit from the National Police Water and Air Police Directorate.
Polda NTB is also conducting security at several points along the arrival and movement routes of spectators, including the Lembar and Gili Mas port areas, where 53 personnel will be stationed.
Furthermore, 80 personnel have been deployed to secure shuttle bus terminals, with two police officers directly escorting each spectator bus unit. The Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) has been divided into three zones, encompassing 2pend 25 security points.
Security for the main stage area will be conducted undercover by Criminal Investigation (Reskrim) members in plain clothes. Meanwhile, the hilly areas will be guarded by Brimob teams and TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) reinforcements.
Polda NTB is also anticipating the visitor campsite areas around the beach by deploying 15 specialised personnel, while preparing 259 personnel as an emergency response reserve force.
All troop movements and traffic monitoring in the Mandalika area will be controlled in real-time through an integrated Command Centre facility located within the circuit area.
