NTB Regional Police Deploy 2,667 Personnel to Secure MotoGP Mandalika
The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) are placing thousands of personnel on standby to maintain public order during the MotoGP world championship event at the Mandalika Circuit, scheduled for 9-11 October 2026.
NTB Deputy Chief of Police, Brigadier General Hari Nugroho, stated that the force is prepared to secure order throughout the MotoGP event in Mandalika. Regarding the potential attendance of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, official confirmation from the central government is still pending.
“The arrival of the President cannot be confirmed yet; we are awaiting official confirmation. If he attends, the Korem (Military Area Command) will serve as our primary backup,” said Hari following a coordination meeting for MotoGP preparations in Mataram on Monday (14/9/2026).
He ensured that the public order situation in NTB ahead of MotoGP 2026 remains safe and controlled. According to Hari, security efforts will not only focus on the race period but will continue until spectators depart from the Mandalika area.
“We are ensuring that any potential concerns are kept under control. We have placed 2,667 personnel on standby. Following the MotoGP event, as spectators return, security will be maintained by 840 personnel,” explained the one-star general.
During the MotoGP security operation, Polda NTB will also receive reinforcements from the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) and two regional police forces from neighbouring areas.
“If there are other activities, we will assist in security. We are also receiving additional security personnel assistance from the National Police Headquarters and the nearby East Java and Bali regional police,” he added.
In addition to securing spectator flows and the race location, serious attention is being directed towards the potential for crime involving the distribution of counterfeit tickets and entry stickers, which occurred during the 2025 MotoGP.
The police, Hari noted, have formed a special team to inspect all spectator tickets to anticipate any attempts by third parties to exploit the situation.
“Regarding the counterfeit tickets and stickers from last year, we lacked a direct comparison for what the authentic stickers and tickets looked like. If any discrepancies are found, we will take action. A team from the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) has been formed to anticipate counterfeit tickets,” Hari emphasised.
