NTB Provincial Government Prepares Revitalisation Scheme for Traditional Bayan House Following Fire Destruction
The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government is preparing a funding scheme for the revitalisation of a traditional house in East Bayan Village, Bayan District, North Lombok, NTB. The traditional Bayan house was previously completely destroyed by fire, resulting in losses of approximately IDR 1.15 billion.
Ahmad Nur Aulia, Acting Head of the NTB Culture Service, stated that the NTB Provincial Government will coordinate with the North Lombok District Government regarding the traditional house fire incident. He emphasised that the Bayan traditional house is a cultural heritage object.
“We certainly must protect and revitalise it following this fire,” Aulia said in Mataram on Friday (27 February 2026).
Aulia explained that revitalisation funds for rebuilding the traditional house are still in the finalisation stage within the 2026 regional budget (APBD). However, the specific funding scheme for revitalising the traditional building has not yet been determined.
“We are still examining the funding pattern. Whether it comes from disaster relief funds (BTT), but I think it may not be a BTT scheme,” he said.
The Head of NTB’s Tourism and Creative Economy Service explained that material losses from the traditional house fire must be recalculated by an expert team. According to him, it is possible that the revitalisation process may be carried out using the Amended APBD.
“There is also an option to finance it from budget realignment to be included in the amended APBD,” Aulia said.
“We will collaborate with the local government,” he added.
Previously, fire broke out in the Bale Beleq Timuk Orong building and one residential house in East Bayan Village, Bayan District, North Lombok, NTB. The material losses resulting from the fire reached IDR 1.15 billion.
