NTB Provincial Government prepares land for People's School on Sumbawa Island
The NTB Provincial Government prepares land for the construction of the first People’s School on Sumbawa Island, planned to be located in Pandai Village, Bima Regency. NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal affirmed the provincial government’s full support for the central government’s programme through the provision of dedicated grant land for the People’s School construction. ‘The land is granted by the NTB Provincial Government for the construction of the People’s School in Bima Regency. Technical assessments are currently underway to determine the most suitable location,’ Iqbal stated in an official statement received in Mataram on Saturday. He noted two alternative sites under review, measuring approximately 13 and 18 hectares respectively. Both locations are deemed sufficiently representative to support the development of an integrated education zone designed under the People’s School concept. He stressed that the People’s School construction is not merely about erecting new educational infrastructure, but a long-term investment to enhance the quality of NTB’s youth. ‘The central government and NTB Provincial Government are currently coordinating and conducting feasibility studies to ensure the chosen site is fully prepared to support the long-term operation of the People’s School,’ said the NTB Governor. To date, Pandai Village remains the priority location and most likely to become the hub for the first People’s School on Sumbawa Island. ‘The establishment of the People’s School is expected to mark a significant milestone in education equity across NTB, while providing broader opportunities for local children to access quality, inclusive education and a pathway to a better future,’ he added.
