The Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has formed an acceleration team to follow up on findings by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) regarding the management of the NTB provincial budget for the 2025 fiscal year. Within a week of receiving the Audit Result Report (LHP), the return of excess payments has reportedly reached 35 percent.

NTB Inspectorate Head Budi Herman confirmed that several Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD) have moved quickly to return excess payments in accordance with BPK recommendations. “The progress is good. It is around 35 percent already,” Budi said on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

Budi did not detail the nominal amount that has entered the regional treasury. However, he assured that the refund process is ongoing. The NTB Inspectorate formed the acceleration team immediately after receiving the LHP from BPK to ensure all findings are resolved before the 60-day deadline. “Many have already deposited funds. I created an acceleration team. Hopefully, it will be completed on time, no more than 60 days, because there is a time limit,” he stressed.

NTB Regional Secretary Abul Chair emphasised that resolving the BPK findings is a top priority. All OPDs have been instructed to act swiftly because the deadline is only 60 days from the submission of the report. “The first concern is the follow-up to the BPK recommendations. The time given is only 60 days after submission, so the deadline is limited. If we are not reminded, it might end up neglected,” Abul Chair said after an Echelon II leadership meeting at the Sangkareang Building, NTB Governor’s Office, on Wednesday (17/6).

To ensure the target is met, Abul stated that the Inspectorate will conduct close supervision and monitoring of progress in each agency. The former Head of the BPKP Representative Office for East Java also highlighted a systemic weakness. He noted that the recurring findings of excess payments serve as a warning about the internal control system within the NTB provincial government. “When something happens repeatedly, we must realise that there is a weakness in our internal controls. That is a task we must resolve immediately,” Abul asserted.

He stressed that internal control must be part of the process from the beginning, not just at the end of an activity. “Internal control must be seen as a continuous process, inherent to the activities and entities. So, do not wait until everything is finished before conducting oversight,” he added. When asked about the main cause of the excess payment findings, Abul stated that the issue cannot be attributed to a single party, but rather involves multiple factors in regional financial governance.

The BPK findings at the NTB Provincial Government total Rp 24 billion. This includes excess payments for goods and services across 15 OPDs and 34 schools amounting to Rp 10.04 billion, excess payments for road maintenance projects of Rp 4.58 billion, unaccounted School Operational Assistance (BOSP) funds of Rp 313.27 million, direct revenue usage of Rp 218.13 million, and other expenditures of Rp 8.86 billion.
