NTB Provincial Government Finalises Preparations for 2026 MotoGP Mandalika
Mataram, NTB (ANTARA) - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government is finalising preparations for the world-class MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency, scheduled for 9-11 October 2026.
NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal stated that all organising elements, including local government, security forces, transportation, and the tourism sector, are continuously ensuring their readiness. The shared objective is to ensure that MotoGP 2026 is organised more effectively than previous years and delivers a greater impact on the people of NTB.
“Our hope is that this year’s MotoGP will be a better-organised event, involving more local communities and volunteers, and providing greater space for MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) to participate,” Iqbal told reporters following a coordination meeting.
He emphasised that to support this, various aspects are being refined, ranging from the readiness of the circuit and supporting infrastructure, electricity, security, transportation, and accommodation, to ticket distribution and spectator readiness, particularly for the local NTB population.
“All sectors are being directed to move in coordination so that the event is not only safe and smooth but also provides an even better experience for spectators and tourists,” he said.
Furthermore, Iqbal requested greater opportunities for participation so that MotoGP does not only attract tourists but also serves as a market for NTB products. Culinary arts, crafts, creative products, and various regional flagship products are expected to receive optimal exposure during the series of activities, ensuring that the economic circulation from MotoGP is more widely felt by the community.
Meanwhile, ITDC Operations Director Troy Reza Warokka stated that the readiness for MotoGP Mandalika 2026 has reached approximately 80 per cent. Several ongoing refinements include circuit facilities, supporting infrastructure, electricity, accommodation, security, and transportation.
Troy also ensured that all riders scheduled to appear at Mandalika 2026 will be present, including those who are of great interest to the Indonesian public. “Their presence is expected to further increase spectator enthusiasm while strengthening Mandalika’s position as a world-class sports destination,” he said.
He noted that this year’s event carries a more specific message. While previously carrying the spirit of “From Indonesia to the World,” MotoGP 2026 is being directed with the spirit of “From Mandalika to the World.”
“This spirit positions Mandalika not merely as a racing location, but as a gateway that brings the potential of NTB to the global stage,” he added.
The MotoGP preparation meeting, led by NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, was attended by ITDC Operations Director Troy Reza Warokka, NTB Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Hari Nugroho, GM of PT Angkasa Pura Bizam Lombok Aidhil Philip Julian, and various local government officials from NTB regencies and cities, the TNI/Polri, and other relevant parties.
