Mataram (ANTARA) - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government is building a rapid reporting service application as an effort to strengthen the handling of cases of violence against women and children, which remain high in the region.

“In the near future, a rapid reporting service application will be built to respond to cases of violence against women and children,” said the Head of Child Protection at the NTB Social Services, Women’s Empowerment, and Child Protection Office, Lalu Juhamdi, in Mataram on Thursday.

Juhamdi stated that the reporting service application will be equipped with an emergency number as well as a quick, safe, and confidential reporting system that can be accessed by the entire community.

According to him, the urgency of establishing the reporting service is inseparable from the still prevalent cases of violence against children in West Nusa Tenggara.

Based on the latest data from the Simfoni PPA (Women’s and Children’s Protection) application for 2025, 637 cases were recorded across all regencies/cities, with a total of 654 child victims.

“Child marriage practices also remain a serious issue that correlates with the high levels of violence against children and women, while also impacting other social problems such as school dropouts, poverty, and stunting,” said Juhamdi.

Furthermore, he explained that through the application, the public no longer needs to come directly to certain agencies to report violence cases, as reports can be submitted quickly via the app or emergency number, with guarantees of reporter confidentiality.

“Every incoming report will be immediately followed up through victim accompaniment processes as well as law enforcement against perpetrators up to the court stage,” he said.

As part of strengthening these measures, the NTB provincial government, together with partners, has scheduled a coordination meeting involving various parties, from Islamic boarding schools, community leaders, to stakeholders.
