NTB Prosecutor's Office Investigates Bank NTB Officials in Rp 11 Billion Credit Corruption Case
Several officials from Bank NTB have been examined by the West Nusa Tenggara High Prosecutor’s Office. They were questioned regarding the alleged corruption in the distribution of Rp 11 billion in credit to PT Carsten Group Indonesia in 2023.
Muhammad Harun Al Rasyid, Head of Public Information at the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed the examination was conducted by investigators from the Special Crimes Unit. He stated that the individuals examined were members of the bank’s management in 2023, and the questioning aimed to investigate the provision of working capital financing to the borrower.
Muh Zulkifli Said, the Assistant for Special Crimes at the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, noted that the examination of the banking officials is part of the investigation stage, with three individuals reportedly questioned.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the Rp 11 billion working capital loan extended to PT CGI by the regionally owned bank did not follow proper mechanisms. Unlawful acts were identified that led to potential state losses, prompting the upgrade of the case’s status from inquiry to investigation.
Zul confirmed that the escalation to an investigation indicates a potential state loss has been found, though he did not disclose the estimated amount. The prosecutor’s office is collaborating with the Audit Board of Indonesia to calculate the exact state losses.
This case is separate from the alleged corruption in the 2024 Motocross Grand Prix event, which was also financed by Bank NTB and remains at the inquiry stage. It is also distinct from the alleged corruption in the 2023 Lombok Sumbawa Motocross Competition, a case involving Rp 24 billion in funds from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, which has already progressed to the investigation stage.
