NTB Prepares 30,000 Cattle to Meet Sacrificial Animal Needs in Jabodetabek
Mataram (ANTARA) - The West Nusa Tenggara provincial government is preparing 30,000 head of cattle to meet the sacrificial animal needs in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) region for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. “This is specifically for the Eid al-Adha needs in the Jabodetabek area only,” said the Head of the NTB Livestock and Animal Health Service, Muhammad Riadi, in Mataram on Sunday. He explained that initially, 21,000 head of cattle were prepared. However, midway through, there was an additional request for 9,000 head of cattle sent from Sumbawa. “They have already started being sent by livestock entrepreneurs. They are using land routes with tronton trucks from Bima, Lombok, Surabaya,” he said. According to him, the early shipment of cattle is to avoid congestion in port areas as occurred in previous years at Poto Tano Port in West Sumbawa Regency and Gili Mas Port in West Lombok. “We have scheduled this. Do not let shipments only happen close to Eid al-Adha, leading to a buildup of queues of cattle transport trucks in the port areas. That is why we are taking anticipatory measures starting now,” he explained. Furthermore, Riadi said that the regulation of cattle exports is based on the NTB Governor’s Decision No. 100.3.3.1-649 of 2025 on the Quota for the Export of Beef Cattle and Buffaloes Within and Outside the Region as well as the Import of Cattle in NTB for 2026. For details, the quota for beef cattle exports from NTB totals 52,517 head. Meanwhile, the buffalo quota is 2,550 head. The largest quota comes from Bima Regency with 17,500 head of cattle. Sumbawa 17,000 head of cattle, Dompu 13,500 head of cattle, Bima City 3,317 head of cattle, and West Sumbawa with 200 head of cattle. “Meanwhile, the remaining 1,000 head are sent from Mataram City, West Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, and West Sumbawa,” he explained. Meanwhile, he said that the buffalo quota sent outside the region totals 2,550 head, with the largest allocation to Surabaya, namely 1,400 head. Dompu 300 head, Sumbawa 200 head, West Sumbawa 200 head, Bima Regency 200 head, and Bima City 50 head. “Compared to the 2025 quota, this is far more for 2026. Last year, there were only 49,254 head of cattle. Meanwhile, buffaloes totalled 5,580 head,” he said.
