NTB Police Conduct Reconstruction of Alleged Arson of Three Islamic Boarding School Students

The Directorate of Women and Children Service and Anti-Trafficking (Ditres PPA PPO) of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police conducted a reconstruction on Wednesday (29/7/2026) of the alleged arson case involving three students at the Rosudatussaulatiyah Al Ibrahimy Islamic Boarding School in Aik Darek Village, Batukliang District, Central Lombok. The reconstruction was held behind closed doors, with no access for the media.

Observations from the scene indicated the reconstruction began at 1:00 PM local time and was attended by all relevant parties. These included investigators from the Central Lombok Police, the NTB Regional Police, the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, and the Central Lombok District Prosecutor’s Office. Also present were the legal counsel for the boarding school leadership, the Mataram Child Protection Agency (LPA), Hotman 911, and the legal representative for the child suspect, MR.

During the reconstruction, investigators re-enacted a number of scenes believed to be connected to the sequence of events leading up to and during the incident. The process started in the boarding school yard, where the students were reportedly playing. It then moved to the back of the building, the location suspected to be where wood used to make a catapult was taken. Investigators subsequently proceeded to the room that was the main site of the alleged arson of the three students. At this location, the participants re-enacted several scenes based on the investigation findings to align the statements of witnesses, victims, and the suspect with the evidence collected by investigators. Strict security was enforced throughout the reconstruction, with dozens of Central Lombok Police personnel deployed around the area to restrict access for the public and the media, ensuring the entire process remained closed until its conclusion.
