NTB Police Chief Promises to Evaluate Central Lombok Investigators in Santri Burning Case

West Nusa Tenggara Police Chief Inspector General Kalingga Rendra Raharja has pledged to follow up on a recommendation from Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) to evaluate investigators from the Central Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The investigators were handling the case of three santri who were burned at the Rosudatussaulatiyah Al Ibrahimy Islamic boarding school. “The recommendation will be implemented,” Kalingga stated on Tuesday (14/7/2026). The recommendation was made during a hearing with the DPR, which was attended by the victims’ families and their representatives. One of the key points was a request for the Police Professional and Security Division and the Criminal Investigation Agency to evaluate the performance of the Central Lombok Police investigators. The case has now been taken over by the Women and Children Protection and Trafficking in Persons Directorate of the NTB Regional Police. “It has been taken over by the NTB Regional Police. We will immediately follow up on all recommendations from Commission III. Firm steps will be taken soon. Hopefully, everything can be resolved,” he added. The case involves the burning of three santri: Ahmad Deven Ramdan (14), Sahid Al Hudri, and Muhamad Sahril Sobirin, who died. Two suspects have been named: the head of the Islamic boarding school, Ahmad Muzakki Raharja (AMR), and a 15-year-old fellow santri, MR.
