NTB Museum formulates concept for Sade Traditional Village museum
The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Museum has begun formulating spatial layout and exhibition display concepts for the establishment of a museum for the Sade Traditional Village in Rembitan Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency.
Head of the NTB Museum, Ahmad Nuralam, said the formulation of the spatial layout and exhibition display concepts was a follow-up to a meeting with the Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development of the NTB Provincial Regional Secretary on 30 August 2026.
“We were asked to immediately prepare an exhibition display concept for the Sade Museum,” he said in a statement in Mataram on Monday.
He explained that the building concept for the Sade Museum refers to the results of an agreement and proposals from the architectural expert team of the University of Mataram.
The design serves as one of the bases for the NTB Museum in preparing the spatial layout and exhibition display concepts.
The Sade Museum exhibition display will not only showcase cultural objects, but will also present a narrative about the complete life journey of the Sade indigenous community.
“The desired storyline depicts the life of the Sade community from the past, the fire incident, to the process of rising again,” said Nuralam.
The theme is divided into several sub-themes depicting the history, culture, heritage, and journey of the Sade community in facing the fire and rebuilding their lives.
The first sub-theme tells the story of the Sade ancestors’ traces, highlighting the history and journey of the Sade indigenous community, followed by the space and culture of the Sasak people, which depicts traditions, rituals, traditional ceremonies, and the social life of the community.
In addition, a sub-theme on heritage in life showcases various cultural objects related to community life, including household utensils, agricultural tools, arts, ancient manuscripts, weapons, and various cultural relics.
A sub-theme on when fire changed Sade highlights the fire incident, the condition of the Sade Traditional Village after the event, as well as various handling efforts and the involvement of the government and community in the post-fire period, while a sub-theme on Sade rising again depicts the process of the community rebuilding their lives and traditional houses with support from various parties.
“That can depict Sade before, before the fire, then after the fire, and rising again,” said Bunyamin.
The NTB Museum has formed an acceleration task force as part of efforts to speed up coordination and completion of the various stages required in the establishment of the Sade Museum.
He emphasised that the preparation of the spatial layout and exhibition display concepts is still ongoing through internal discussions and coordination with relevant parties so that the Sade Museum has a strong storyline.
