Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Marine and Air Police Directorate (Ditpolairud) of the West Nusa Long NTB Regional Police is tightening security at nine port entrances on Lombok Island ahead of the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia (MotoGP).

“Strict security and monitoring across all entry and exit points of ports throughout Lombok Island is our way of demonstrating commitment to providing a sense of safety, both for the local community and for the tourists and crews who are beginning to arrive,” said the Director of Marine and Air Police of the NTB Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Boyke F.S. Samola, in Mataram, NTB, on Wednesday.

Monitoring is being conducted at nine locations, namely Senggigi Port, Ampenan Port, Awang Port, the Kuta Mandalika area, Lembar Port, Gili Mas Port, Kayangan Port, Tanjung Luar Port, and Bangsal Port.

He explained that this security measure is part of the ‘Cipta Mandalika Rinjani 2026’ Regional Police Operation, which is being held to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas) in anticipation of the international racing event at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency.

Furthermore, the NTB Regional Police Marine and Air Police Directorate is also monitoring coastal community activities, port office areas, and core port zones to anticipate potential security disturbances ahead of the MotoGP event.

Boyke stated that early detection measures in waterways and port areas are a vital part of maintaining security during the series of MotoGP Mandalika 2026 activities.

“We are conducting early detection of potential security and order disturbances so that the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit can proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly,” he said.

The NTB Regional Police Marine and Air Police Directorate has urged the public and users of maritime transport services to work together to maintain security and order in port areas and to report to officers if any activities potentially disturbing public order are discovered.
