NTB Inspectorate to Audit Rp10 Billion Grant for KONI

The Inspectorate of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province will audit the management of a Rp10 billion grant given to the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of NTB for the implementation of the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). The funds originate from the 2025 regional budget (APBD). The audit will be conducted comprehensively, from the planning stage, activity implementation, budget utilisation, to the accountability report (LPJ).

NTB Inspectorate Inspector Budi Herman emphasised that this audit is part of the routine oversight function of the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) over the use of regional funds. ‘I have not yet reported to the leadership, but if it is indeed what the public is asking for, I will be ready to conduct the audit. It is no longer a plan; we are indeed heading in that direction,’ Budi said on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Budi explained that his office does not need to wait for a public complaint to conduct an audit. However, the examination is only being processed now because the Inspectorate was previously focused on completing more prioritised oversight agendas. ‘Previously we still had many other tasks that were more of a priority, so everything would naturally go there. Every use of the APBD is like that,’ he explained.

Although confirming the audit will proceed, Budi said the process has not yet reached the stage of physical or document examination. The Inspectorate is currently preparing the formation of a team and completing administrative mechanisms before holding an official meeting with the KONI NTB management. ‘Not yet. Later, in the initial stage, at the entry meeting, we will inform you,’ he said.

Budi stated that the examination will cover the entire chain of fund management, from programme planning, realisation of activities in the field, to the conformity of budget expenditure with its intended purpose. His office cannot yet conclude whether there are any violations or indications of regional losses. ‘For us, it is purely to find out whether the budget in the LPJ is there or not, and whether it is in accordance with its intended use,’ Budi stressed.

Budi denied speculation that the audit was triggered by a series of problems and disturbances at the 2026 NTB Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). He asserted that the main focus of the oversight is purely on the accountability of the 2025 APBD grant utilisation. ‘It was for the implementation of the previous Porprov, so that is what will be audited. Everything, from planning to utilisation,’ he said.

In addition, Budi also dismissed allegations that the examination carries political undertones ahead of the KONI NTB Provincial Sports Deliberation (Musorprov) for the election of a new chairman. ‘That is the viewpoint of friends who see it as risky. For us, there is none of that,’ he quipped.

To date, the NTB Inspectorate admits it has not received the LPJ document from the KONI NTB management. The document will later become the main study material once the audit team is officially deployed. ‘We are doing this step by step, one step at a time,’ Budi concluded.
