NTB High Prosecutor's Office scrutinises Mataram District Prosecutor's Office over single corruption case handling

The Head of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) High Prosecutor’s Office, Wahyudi, has requested the Deputy Head of the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, Dandeni Herdiana, to evaluate the performance of the Mataram District Prosecutor’s Office, which has only handled one corruption case as of August 2026.

“This will be our evaluation, whether there truly are no criminal acts or if our colleagues at the Mataram District Prosecutor’s Office are sleeping; I do not know,” Wahyudi stated in Mataram on Thursday.

Wahyudi noted that the evaluation was prompted by the low number of corruption cases handled by the Mataram office throughout 2026. This is despite the fact that the Mataram District Prosecutor’s Office’s jurisdiction covers Mataram City, West Lombok Regency, and North Lombok Regency.

“Clearly, this will serve as material for our evaluation,” he added.

This figure is notably lower than that of the Central Lombok District Prosecutor’s Office, which manages only one jurisdiction but has conducted investigations into four corruption cases.

During the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Indonesian Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday (2/9), Wahyuki previously reported that there were 24 alleged corruption cases handled by the entire prosecution ranks in NTB throughout 2026. Of these 24 cases, 23 have reached the investigation stage, with six being handled by the Special Crimes Division of the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office.

In addition to case handling, the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office recorded the recovery of state finances amounting to Rp12.4 billion from corruption case proceedings throughout 2026.
