The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Health Office has mobilised 177 primary health centres to manage the influx and return flow of travellers during the Islamic New Year exodus period in 1447 Hijriah (2026). This measure ensures that healthcare services for residents and holiday travellers remain optimal throughout the Eid holiday period.

Lalu Hamzi Fikri, the head of the NTB Health Office, emphasised that all healthcare facilities across NTB have been instructed to increase their preparedness given the anticipated surge in public mobility during the exodus and return periods. “A total of 177 primary health centres and 46 hospitals throughout NTB have been placed on alert to provide healthcare services to residents and travellers,” Fikri stated on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

Fikri explained that these healthcare facilities must ensure 24-hour emergency services, medical personnel support, medicine availability, and ambulance readiness for patient referrals. In addition, the NTB Health Office, working with district and municipal health offices, has deployed medical personnel and ambulances to security posts, service stations, and integrated command centres established by police at several key exodus route locations.

“We have also requested that medical personnel deployment follows the established schedule to provide direct healthcare services to travellers,” he added.

One healthcare service point for travellers has been established at Mandalika Type A Terminal, supported by medical teams from various hospitals on a rotating basis throughout the exodus period. The service involves hospitals including Mataram University Hospital, Moh. Ruslan General Hospital in Mataram City, NTB Provincial Mandalika Hospital, and several other hospitals that are deploying medical personnel and ambulances.

“To strengthen emergency response systems in the field, the Public Safety Centre 119 service has also been optimised across 10 districts and cities in NTB,” said the Acting Director General of NTB General Hospital.

Beyond operational readiness, the NTB Health Office is also conducting monitoring and surveillance of disease situations during the exodus period to anticipate potential outbreaks and other health problems. Furthermore, the NTB Health Office is providing free health screenings for bus drivers at Mandalika Terminal as part of efforts to prevent health and travel safety risks during the Eid exodus.

“We hope that residents can travel during the exodus and return journey safely, comfortably, and in good health. We urge the public to maintain their health during travel, ensure they are in good health before departure, and utilise the available healthcare facilities should they experience any health concerns during their journey,” he concluded.
