The West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government has confirmed that two santri victims of a burning incident at the Rosudatussaulatiyah Al Ibrahimy Islamic Boarding School in Central Lombok Regency will receive regular financial assistance. Both have been designated as permanent zakat recipients through the NTB National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) during their recovery period.

Head of the NTB Social, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (Dinsos PPA), Ahmad Masyhuri, stated that the policy was a direct instruction from NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal. Each victim will receive Rp 500,000 per month.

‘The Governor from the outset requested Baznas to make the victims permanent mustahik until they recover, with monthly assistance of Rp 500,000 intended for their recovery,’ Masyhuri said at the NTB Governor’s Office on Tuesday (14/7/2026).

According to Masyhuri, crime victims are entitled to protection and assistance from the state. The provincial government is currently preparing the distribution mechanism for the aid by involving various parties.

‘In principle, we will work together for this assistance. If the family is capable, the state’s burden is lighter. But if they are not, we are fully obliged to help,’ he stressed.

The agency has also been providing psychological and social support since the case emerged. The regional government even facilitated the family’s travel to Jakarta for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Indah Dhamayanti Putri said medical treatment and family support remain a priority for the regional government. She has scheduled a visit to the victims’ family home once they return from Jakarta.

Regarding the ongoing legal process, Dinda affirmed that the provincial government respects the work of law enforcement officers investigating the incident. She also dismissed perceptions that the government was slow to respond, asserting that support has been provided from the beginning.

‘We hope everyone will be patient because this case has drawn attention from all parties, both central and regional. We will not stand idly by in handling this matter,’ she stressed. She concluded by expressing hope that such a heartbreaking tragedy would never happen again in any educational institution, whether in NTB or throughout Indonesia.
