NTB forms task force for post-fire recovery of Sade Traditional Village

Mataram (ANTARA) - The West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government has formed a task force for handling the recovery and redevelopment of Sade Traditional Village in Rambitan Village, Central Lombok Regency, following a fire on Saturday night (22/8).

Head of the NTB Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Sadimin said the formation of this task force is in accordance with the direction of NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal at a leadership meeting held by the NTB Provincial Government, led directly by the Governor together with the Deputy Governor of NTB.

“It has been decided that this task force will be led by Assistant II of the NTB Provincial Secretariat,” he told reporters after attending the leadership meeting at the NTB Governor’s Office in Mataram on Monday.

He emphasised that the formation of this task force is to accelerate the recovery process and redevelopment of the traditional tourism area.

“The main task of the task force chairman is to accelerate recovery, coordinate rehabilitation plans, and divide roles among relevant agencies,” said Sadimin.

Meanwhile, regarding the number of residents affected by the fire, based on NTB BPBD data, 120 families or around 320 people were affected. The number of damaged buildings and traditional facilities includes 75 traditional houses and one mosque building damaged.

Furthermore, traditional structures include 8 thatched-roof granaries, 69 arsop, 4 large berugak, 6 sekepat berugak, and 1 bale belik. Public and tourism facilities include one tourism area facility and one traditional gate.

Regarding aid distribution, Sadimin said that all assistance is handled directly on site by the Central Lombok Regency Government.

“We do not monitor the amount because it is handled in Central Lombok. From NTB BPBD there are tents, tarpaulins, and so on,” he said.

Previously, NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal ensured that the basic needs of residents and the education of Sade children affected by the fire disaster are guaranteed by the regional government.

“The most important thing now is that all residents are safe,” he said.

Iqbal stressed that handling of residents must not stop at providing evacuation shelters. The government must immediately ensure that all basic needs of the community are met, including clothing, food, and a sense of security for families whose homes were affected by the fire.
