NTB duo set for Bangkok meet

JAKARTA (JP): Two women beach volleyball players from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will represent Indonesia in the World Beach Volleyball Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, from Feb. 15 to Feb. 20.

The executive chairman of the West Nusa Tenggara chapter of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI), H. Misbah, said Tini Yudani and Elizabeth were selected because they won the national championship last October.

"This is a golden chance for our beach volleyball team because the athletes could test their skills before competing in the 15th National Games (PON) in Surabaya in June," he was quoted by Antara as saying from Mataram.

He added that the association would send two teams consisting of men's and women's beach volleyball players to PON, with an aim to win gold.

"In the 1996 PON in Jakarta, West Nusa Tenggara's men beach volleyball players won gold while the women's duo won silver," he said.(ivy)
