NPC Central Jakarta honours gold medallists at APG 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Central Jakarta staged an appreciation event for two gold medallists at the ASEAN Para Games (APG) 2026 in Thailand. “My hope is that this can act as a spur to the motivation of our athletes, including student athletes and junior athletes, to achieve successes just like Bang Komet and Bang Kholidin,” said Hendra Eka Permana, head of the Jakarta Central Youth and Sports Office, to reporters at the buka bersama (iftar) event held at the DKI Jakarta Provincial KONI Office in Central Jakarta on Sunday. “Judging by the achievements that Jakarta Pusat has recorded so far, I am confident and I hope our athletes will continue to excel, both nationally and internationally,” he added. Central Jakarta athletes contributed six medals, part of Indonesia’s total of 135 gold, 143 silver, and 114 bronze at APG 2026. Table tennis para-athlete Komet Akbar and para-archer Kholidin contributed six medals, with two golds and one silver each. Komet won gold in the Men’s Singles TT10 and Men’s Doubles TT18, while he earned one silver in Mixed Doubles TT20. For Kholidin, he won the Men’s Individual Recurve Open and Men’s Doubles Recurve Open, along with one silver from the Mixed Team Recurve Open. Indonesia finished as the overall champions in archery at APG 2026. Appreciation was also given to Central Jakarta’s student paralympians at the National Student Paralympic Week (PEPARPENAS) 2025. DKI Jakarta finished third in the final standings with 11 gold, 15 silver, and 14 bronze. “We also extend appreciation to the student athletes who participated in PEPARPENAS, held in DKI Jakarta,” he said. After the ceremony, Komet and Kholidin flew to Solo for a training camp ahead of the Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. “In general, the Jakarta Provincial Government provides grants to NPC Jakarta for the development and for awarding disabled athletes,” Hendra explained. He added that the government also provides facilities and training venues for the advancement of athlete development.
