Novotel sets up green team

YOGYAKARTA: As parts of its community service program,
Novotel Yogyakarta Hotel has recently set up a special
environmental team to help charities in the area.

The 11-member "Green Team 2005 -- Revolution" organizes
school equipment for child education programs run in Yogyakarta
and Central Java.

"The team will also conduct an energy-saving campaign around
the hotel and environment and collect used goods from the hotel's
employees," team chairman Bandri said with all the proceeds going
to other charitable health and education programs.

Public relations manager Erny Kusmastuti said for the last
four years the hotel had been carrying out social and
environmental programs.

They included donating stationery and providing free medical
check ups for elementary school children, renovating a musholla
(small mosque) and converting an office building into a
kindergarten, and holding a mass cleanup at the Kranggan
traditional market. --JP
